Jared had a very interesting 37th Birthday. There is just something about this guys Birthday. Weird things always happen like say a tsunami in Hawaii. This year was no different. On his Birthday, I had planned to have the Keck's over for dinner and to open presents. To start off, he was operating that day and had a tech make a major mistake that almost cost the patient her life. It just completely freaked Jared out and shook him up. Then on his way home from work he calls me and tells me that he picked up a girl on the side of the ride and asks me to google her name to try to find out who she is and who to call for her.
Jared saw her sitting on the side of the freeway and she was so tiny that he thought she was a little girl. He drove a minute or so and then just felt as though he needed to turn around and go see if she was okay. When he pulled up, he realized she was probably around 20. Her name was Hannah and she came running to his car. He let her in, she was totally confused seemed to have no clue where she was, who she was, how she got there, even if she was alive or in heaven. It was crazy. Turns out she was on the missing girls list from a few years ago and so we called the police and they said she was older now and not missing. One thing she was able to do was give us numbers of people in her family. She kept talking about some guy and kept trying to call him. Clearly he was a boyfriend, and it seemed a not very good boyfriend, probably abusive among other things. The girl was skin and bones. tiny, we had her take a shower and then we all ate a very weird and awkward meal together. We were finally able to get a hold of her mom, turns out she was taking care of Hannah's baby and Hannah was not allowed to be around the child so she had us call her father. Hannah's Grandpa who lived 2 hours away drove down here to pick her up. He was the sweetest thing, you could tell he was just an old hardworking young man from a small town. Once he got here Hannah started to freak out and didn't want to go with him. Turns out her grandmother was probably pretty mean to her and she didn't want to go to their house. Jared called the hospital and told them that she should probably be seen for psychiatric help and then they left. A few minutes, later the mother called asking if we had seen her. It seems she escaped from her grandfather's car and the police and him were searching for her.
It was so sad, so sad to see a beautiful young women sooooo messed up! I hope that someday she is able to clean herself up.
Anyways, Jared get a few fun things for his Birthday! First and foremost he got a gun, so I only got him something super cheap, actually it only cost me .88 cents. This awesome lunch box with the name Sebastian embroidered on it. So funny. I am horrible about making Jared a lunch. I just forget, so I knew this would help remind me, as long as Jared gets it out for me I am pretty good about getting him a lunch. Justin and Andrea gave him the triathlon magazine which was sweet.
He did get to have a little fun as well. I surprised with a fun day of shooting all of his new guns with his friends out here. They went up to some guys ranch and had a blast shooting guns.

We only got to see Cole for a few days because he was going on a ski vacation with his Dad. The kid was so sad when he found out we were coming and that he would only get to see Kai and McKean a little bit. He thinks McKean is like going to be his little buddy. I am sure once he gets bigger he will be!!
