Crawling!

McKean started to crawl while we were in Hawaii at 9 months old. He learned this funny monkey crawl keeping his right leg up and dragging his left. He is so funny and continued this same crawl until he learned to walk!!

So Adorable!!

Hickam Fun!

We spent a lot of our time on Hickam AFB. I love that base so much. It is beautiful, it has the best pathway ever and it is safe and has great parks.
This is where Kai first started swinging so it was fun to bring McKean there for his first swings as well.
So Precious!

We walked the path way a lot. I miss this more than probably anything else in Hawaii!! I started coming to the pathway when I was just an intern and spent many hours just hanging out on the sea wall looking at the fish, the crabs and the naval ships and subs!
I had two stoleaways in my trunk!! We brought Kai's scooter with us and she used a ton the first two weeks and then all of the sudden it was gone. So we aren't sure if we accidentally left it at the park or if it got stolen out of our car.
The red, white and blue park brought back so many memories of our time there and all of the amazing people we met!
These two just had fun playing!

Going down the big slide together. Kai was so excited to get to hold McKean. He seemed pretty happy about it too.
Coming out the bottom!!

Where is Kailie????
Silly girl kept riding in the stroller like this!! She is so funny!!
Funny story, one morning we were eating breakfast at the little club there and as were going to walk outside to our table. I was carrying the tray and pushing the stroller so I asked Kai to open the door. Well right next to the door was a big red handle and she thought that was how you opened it, and sure enough it was the fire alarm. The poor girl was TERRIFIED and so emabarrassed. They had to completely shut down the place until the fire dept came and made sure it was okay. She was crying and kept trying to hide and kept asking to leave. We went outside and ate our breakfast, the next time we went there she would not even go near the door and the workers were quick to run over and help us. It was pretty funny!

Kai loved walking the sea wall, which of course made me worry!

Kean enjoyed his nap!
Oh how I miss this place!!!

We stopped by the Keck's old stomping grounds. Brought back so many fond memories of our time with dear friends there!

We also drove over to Ford Island and visited the USS Utah Memorial.

My favorite memorial!

No trip to Hickam would be complete with out going to our favorite dinner the Mongolian BBQ at the O-club.
So Yummy and you can't beat the setting!!
Kean getting cozy with Haley!

Perfect way to end the night!!

Waimea Falls

Our old ward, Halawa had a group that would go out on excursions since it was summer time. We joined them for a few of them. This time we went to Waimea Falls. I had only gone there once before and it was too full to swim.
This park is probably one of the most beautiful ones on the entire island. I miss seeing this all the time!

Kai Kai is so tiny!
Even the leaves were bigger than her!
She had fun exploring as we made our way to the falls!
There was a secret little pathway through this tree!

I had to take a photo of this sign. Kai-=Ocean in Hawaiian!
We finally made it to the falls. I think Kean is in there some where??
There he is!
The lifeguards require all kids to wear life jackets!
The water was REALLY cold. So weird since it is Hawaii!!
Kai and I swam out to the falls, well I swam and she sat on the boogie board cause she was too "told" (cold!)

Sabrina Terry one of my old Young Women watched Kean for us while we swam. It was good to see a lot of the old Young Women!

Waikiki beach surfing!

Staying downtown was a huge pain for most of the trip. We only had one car, so we had to wake up super early to get Jared to Tripler, the traffic was always bad and then it was either head back to the hotel and hang out down there until Jared was done or stay out all day. The traffic is just too bad to go back and forth all the time. But there was one really awesome thing about staying downtown Waikiki was that we could just walk to the beach each night!!
We spent a lot of time on this beach.

Kean testing out the sand for the first time!

Kai gets her hands in on the fun!
Going swimming with Daddy!! He was definitely not as excited as Kai was!!

We were able to borrow our friend Steve's surfboard and so we went surfing there a lot. It was fun for Kai, a little too busy and crazy for me and of course to boring for Jared!!

Kai loved it though. Her and Daddy went out a bunch!

Mean while Kean and Mommy just hung out on the beach watching all the funny tourists and eating anything we could get our hands on!!
Trying to stand up.
I guess she did stand up a few times but it was when they were too far out and I couldn't see them!

Trying it by herself!

Wahoo, there you go Kai Kai!

Daddy trying to get her to stand!

I think we have her hooked!

I got to go out a a few times. Not very big waves for sure but I was at least able to catch a couple!
Kai said she had to go pee so Daddy told her to go in the water. Next thing we know, she is pulling down her pants, getting ready to pee.
So funny!!!

I love it when babies can't really crawl yet. Makes it so much easier!! He just sat on the towel, every time!

Coming in, in the background is my old boat t he Navatek!!
I miss working on it!
I think Daddy accidentally hit her with the board.
 Poor Girlie!

There is the happy smile!!
McKean didn't seem to be feeling so well. In fact, he felt really hot to me this night and from looking at this photo he was probably just teething. He did get his first tooth while we were there.
He just wanted to cuddle and be held by his Momma!!
I love that little monkey man!
This was my favorite thing about our hotel, this was the view from the elevator. Everyday, we could see the surf, and never once was there a time that there was not at least a few surfers out there!!
It definitely made you want to go surfing every time you saw it!!
Walking to the beach.
Kai picked up the official way to carry your board while walking long distances!

Now it is McKean's turn!
He was little unsure of it!

But I think he liked it!!

Trying to stand!
One cute little squirt and one very big board. Before we got the board she kept saying that she wanted a pink board, I kept telling her I didn't know what color it was but I was pretty sure it wouldn't be pink.
Guess I was wrong!
She was thrilled!

Our last night at the beach we made this cute little sand turtle and then hung out till the sunset!

I had a lot of fun with these two crazy kiddos. We just spent all day hanging out together. No chores, no having to run errands or having to be somewhere, we just went with the flow and hung out all day. It was such a nice break from our daily grind.
Such a beautiful way to end our amazing 3 weeks there!!
