Halloween

Halloween this Year was so much fun!!
Usually I try to be creative and come up with a fun family costume but this year I was a little bit preoccupied with this Little Stinker.

So I didn't have a ton of time to come up with costumes. Thankfully last year I was at target after Halloween and found a bunch of costumes super cheap so we just used what we had.
Kailie is a flower gnome just in case you didn't know!
Good thing she has no clue yet about dressing up in costumes, it seems like most little girls her age wants to be one of the disney characters. She was just happy to dress up!! If you can't tell I am a  farmer and I just happened to find the most adorable little skunk and a gnome on my farm.

My friend Teana was out here visiting and helping me after the baby. She is not one to dress up but she went through my bins of costumes and came up with this!!
I am not sure what she is but she looked awesome!!

This was Saturday night and we were heading to the church for the fall festival and trunk or treat! Jared had been in Dallas that weekend for the BYU -TCU game so we picked him up at the airport on our way. He was a farmer too and actually totally matched our friend Justin but I forgot to get a photo.
Kai and her buddy Eliza
Sidenote: She is completely obsessed with her baby right now and she has to bring it everywhere.
I guess just like her momma!
It was pretty cold that night.
Kai got a heart painted on her cheek!
Jared and his super excited face or maybe his post Byu Tcu game face!!
McKean was obviously way too small for this outfit but it was so stinking cute I just had to use it!!
Plus this little dude toots up a storm so it was only too fitting for him!
Halloween night Kai's two best friends came over and we all went trick or treating together.
Trick or treating. One thing that was fun and different about Halloween out here is that most people just sat out on their porch to hand out candy. So it was fun that everyone was just outside. In fact, if people were not outside we usually just skipped their house and continued on.

People are way into their outdoor Halloween decorations out here. It makes me very curious what Christmas will be like!

McKean had a costume change for Halloween night since I had both. He was a sweet little Pea in Pod. Which is very fitting because I eat peas straight out of the pod almost everyday!!

Kai loves her little brother!! Sometime a little too much!
.
Our first family photo since becoming a family of four!
By the end of it all Kai was a pro at trick or treating and has asked me everyday since if she can go trick or treating!

Just a couple of cute videos. To remind me how cute Kailie is.
I love her little voice!

Potty Time!

Kailie is finally potty trained!! Wohoo!!
She still has the occasional accident but overall she learned pretty quick! We started teaching her on Sunday November 13th which was just 3 days before her 3rd birthday!! I always thought she would be completely potty trained way before 3 but in the end this was fine. She took to going number one just fine and the first day which was a Sunday she did awesome and didn't have any accidents not even at church. Going number two was a whole different story and took us until that Friday before she actually went on the potty, hence the movie. We would make her stay in the bathroom in hopes of getting her to go. We would put on a movie but to prevail she would always hold it until the evening when she had on her nighttime diaper.
Eventually she finally did and then it wasn't a problem. We told her that when she was finally potty trained that she could go get a toy story figure. She loved loved that show and was always wanting them when she saw them. Well the night we went to get it, she pee'ed her pants on the way home. It was funny and so ironic but also partly our fault since we forgot to have her go before we left.

Tuffy

My parents dog Tuffy passed away Sunday totally unexpectedly!
He was such a good dog and so much fun to play with!!
I am going to miss him!
Me and my Buddy!
From the moment Tuffy first met Kailie he has been so curious about her and whenever she would cry as a baby he was always right there by her. There were like little buddies.Of course as she has gotten older they became more like siblings and got along great sometimes and other times they would fight!!

They last time we saw Tuffy!!
I have been telling Kailie that Tuffy died and is now in Heaven and that we won't see him again. Now she walks around saying that "tuffy died, he's in oven, he is getting really hot."  I guess she thinks heaven means the oven. She is definitely going to miss him when we go visit Papa and Nana.

We are going to miss you buddy!!

Aunt Rachel Visits

Glazing the cabinets!
When Mckean was two weeks old Jared's sister Rachel was able to come out and visit. It was so fun to have her here and she was a huge help. I don't think we would have ever gotten our cabinets done without her help.
Kailie absolutely loved having her here. She finally says Rachel now, I have been working with her and learning adults names. She knows all of her cousins and friends but adults she has no clue. Even though she wouldn't say Rachel's name all summer in Utah she definitely knew that Rachel was Cole and Cam's Mom. She is so funny!
I feel bad that the majority of her time out here was spent working on the kitchen but she did get to cuddle this little dude. It was so great to have her out here. Being around Family always makes us wish we lived closer to them!!
Here is a sneak peak of our hard work!
Just wait till you see how ugly they were before!!
Thanks Rachel for all your help!

First Bath!

So you know how they tell you not to submerge the baby until after there umbilical cord falls out? Well apparently Jared missed that memo. This was McKeans first bath at home and I definitely think he was submerged. Maybe that is why is umbilical cord took forever to fall out and finally came out on the 25th!!

I don't think he loved his first bath so much but now he loves them and doesn't cry at all.
I guess he will probably be a water boy just like the rest of us!!

Giving Dad the stink eye for making him take a bath~!

This silly squirt had to take a "bath" afterwards and insisted in seating in the baby seat!!
When did my little girl get so big!! Here she is during her first bath!!
It seems like just yesterday!

The First Week!

This little monster turned a week old on Thursday and I must say that this past week has been crazy!! I was super scared about the transition from one to two kids but so far it hasn't been too crazy. I would always hear about the first outing with two and how crazy it is but for me I was forced to have my first outing by myself with the two when McKean was not even 24 hours old. We came home from the hospital late Friday night and his billy ribbon count was a bit high so they told us to take him into the Military hospital the next morning just to check him out. I was going to take Mckean and Jared was going to stay home with Kai but right as I was getting ready to leave Jared got a page and had to go urgently to the OR so we all went into together and I ended up having Kai and McKean for the next few hours at the hospital by myself. It went much better than I expected. Than that night Jared got called in again so he was gone the whole evening. I was basically completely on my own the whole day. It was pretty nuts and I was really happy when Jared got home. Tuesday he had to work all day and again McKean and Kailie both had Dr. appointments so off we went to the hospital again and we ended up being there for over 4 hours. Kai's diabetes appointment took forever and in the end I decided that I really never gain anything by going to the them and feel that they are a complete waste of time.
Waiting for the surgery. Poor little guy had no clue what was coming.
Wednesday we had to go back to the hospital to get his circumcision done!! Again Jared was at work although he was supposed to have the whole week off but he was done by the time we got to the hospital so he could come wait with us. We again ended up being there for 4 hours. I was beginning to think that I should just move into the hospital for how much I had been there the past week.
Kai playing in the waiting area at the hospital. The poor girl has spent so much time there, she has definitely been a trooper.

He was starving as we were waiting for the surgery but they wouldn't let me feed him and they kept telling us it would be just a few minutes well an hour and a half later they still hadn't done it and the poor kid was screaming his head off to eat. I was so mad and frustrated!
He handled everything great, but I have to say that I hate that surgery and I hate the taking care of it after!
Kailie has been a pretty good big sister besides totally mauling the poor baby. She loves him and always wants to hold him, kiss him and smoother him. I am just glad she is not mean to him, hopefully it stays that way!!

I do feel bad though because I feel like I yell at her so much lately. She is a pretty good kid, but she drives me nuts when she climbs all over me when I am feeding or holding the baby. She has also developed a total defiant attitude lately and is constantly telling me NO!! She spends a lot of time in time-out that is for sure!!
Thursday we finally got to just stay home and enjoy our new little guy!! He is such a little cutie, super cuddly and hardly ever cries.

Tiny feet and hands. Although his hands and feet are quite big for his body size!

Here is a view of Kai with the baby and this is very gentle non-smothering moment for her!!
