This little monster turned a week old on Thursday and I must say that this past week has been crazy!! I was super scared about the transition from one to two kids but so far it hasn't been too crazy. I would always hear about the first outing with two and how crazy it is but for me I was forced to have my first outing by myself with the two when McKean was not even 24 hours old. We came home from the hospital late Friday night and his billy ribbon count was a bit high so they told us to take him into the Military hospital the next morning just to check him out. I was going to take Mckean and Jared was going to stay home with Kai but right as I was getting ready to leave Jared got a page and had to go urgently to the OR so we all went into together and I ended up having Kai and McKean for the next few hours at the hospital by myself. It went much better than I expected. Than that night Jared got called in again so he was gone the whole evening. I was basically completely on my own the whole day. It was pretty nuts and I was really happy when Jared got home. Tuesday he had to work all day and again McKean and Kailie both had Dr. appointments so off we went to the hospital again and we ended up being there for over 4 hours. Kai's diabetes appointment took forever and in the end I decided that I really never gain anything by going to the them and feel that they are a complete waste of time.
| Waiting for the surgery. Poor little guy had no clue what was coming. |
Wednesday we had to go back to the hospital to get his circumcision done!! Again Jared was at work although he was supposed to have the whole week off but he was done by the time we got to the hospital so he could come wait with us. We again ended up being there for 4 hours. I was beginning to think that I should just move into the hospital for how much I had been there the past week.
| Kai playing in the waiting area at the hospital. The poor girl has spent so much time there, she has definitely been a trooper. |
He was starving as we were waiting for the surgery but they wouldn't let me feed him and they kept telling us it would be just a few minutes well an hour and a half later they still hadn't done it and the poor kid was screaming his head off to eat. I was so mad and frustrated!
He handled everything great, but I have to say that I hate that surgery and I hate the taking care of it after!
Kailie has been a pretty good big sister besides totally mauling the poor baby. She loves him and always wants to hold him, kiss him and smoother him. I am just glad she is not mean to him, hopefully it stays that way!!
I do feel bad though because I feel like I yell at her so much lately. She is a pretty good kid, but she drives me nuts when she climbs all over me when I am feeding or holding the baby. She has also developed a total defiant attitude lately and is constantly telling me NO!! She spends a lot of time in time-out that is for sure!!
Thursday we finally got to just stay home and enjoy our new little guy!! He is such a little cutie, super cuddly and hardly ever cries.
Tiny feet and hands. Although his hands and feet are quite big for his body size!
Here is a view of Kai with the baby and this is very gentle non-smothering moment for her!!

Great post, Gina! Hang in there! You are doing great! Love the pics and Kai looks like a great older sister! BTW, we never circumcised our boys and I have not regretted it one second. But I am sure he will be just fine...
I love McKean sucking on Kai's nose! It is so fun to see the pictures and the video. Thanks - I can't wait to hold both of them the end of the year!
Very cute Gina! Sounds like you have already had a good taste of what it is like being out with 2 on your own! You're an amazing mom juggling all you have to deal with! Kai and Mckean are both adorable!!!!
