First Time Skiing!

We have been wanting to take Kai skiing for the past couple of years but it just never worked out and we wanted her first time to be fun not freezing cold and miserable. So we took her up to Brighton on a Friday while we were in Utah!! We kept debating on whether or not to have her snowboard or ski and we felt since we were both snowboarding that she would probably want to be the same as us.
We definitely should have done ski's first. We learned that afterwards!! She did good, we put her in ski school for a couple of hours in the morning and then we met up with her for lunch and then went out together after. s
Jared and I got to go by ourselves for the morning. I was so nervous, it has been a long time since I snowboarded, but it was fun and I only fell getting of the lift the first couple of times. Jared was way faster than me since he is a machine and can do everything perfectly so we would go up together and then he would race down and go up again and then I would meet him at the bottom. I am not that slow but I just really wanted to work on my carving to remember it all!!
We stopped at the top to get a photo with Timp in the background. This is exactly where I used to work when I was a photographer up there and funny enough my old boss was the photographer there that day so we stopped and chatted with him and he kindly took this photo of us, even though I know it killed him to do it!!!  Sadly, I had this awesome so warm and comfy white gloves and I lost them somewhere from the parking lot to getting Kai to ski school. I was so bummed and we lost Kai's cute hat as well!
Jared had fun boarding!
Don't know why he is waving!!
Is Kailie in the there somewhere??
We were excited to go watch Kai for the end of her lesson but we got there and didn't see her anywhere. She got cold so they took her inside which is probably a good thing because her blood sugar was really low when we picked her up.
 Poor thing!!

The first run was hard. We have never taught a child before and Jared was getting really frustrated. It is hard with your own board on teach some one. It took them forever to get from up here to me!!
Jared finally just took off his board and tried to help her that way!! He wanted to quit after that one run but I made them keep going and they actually ended up having a lot of fun and she got on a little bit!

He would stand her up and then she would go down quite far and then sit down and stop!!
The awesome thing was she really didn't have any fear!

 Here she goes!!!

I love this!!

She did make me super nervous about running into something since she can't steer herself to well or stop very fast!!

She looks like she getting ready for a jump!!
Getting on the lift!

Good thing Daddy's are there to help us!!

The last run she was getting cold and tired and was pretty much done!!

Good Job little Kai Kai!! Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you!!
Next time we will try Ski's!!

Carnival and Rodeo Fun!

The Carnival/Rodeo comes to San Antonio every February for the whole month. We miss it last year so this year we went the first weekend with the Keck's and Jeramy Mahoney who was in town for training. It was military appreciation night so all the rides were only a dollar. I don't get why you would go any other night and pay 3-4 dollars a ride!!
The kids and I got there first so we played on this flag pole bench until everyone got there. It
The kids had fun till McKean fell off and bumped his head.
First ride of the night! The slides! Brinley was too short to go on it. Poor girl, it ain't her fault that she got the short genes!

All the girlie's having fun together.
They all wanted to do this ride. The line was long and the worker was taking FOREVER to get people on and off. You could tell he was loving making everyone wait!! Justin's face pretty sums it up, that is how we all felt!!
This ride better be worth it!!
Keaner's discovered this big balls, of course!! The kid is obsessed with balls.
He wanted to hold it soooo bad!

It was getting pretty late and he must of been tired so he just laid right down on the ground and just hung out!
One last ride!
Silly faces!!
Then we got a treat! $1 cotton candy, you can't pass that up! Kai was the only one of us that fit in because she was wearing her cowboy boots. Everyone was dressed up like cowboys. So weird cause we don't really see any cowboys normally around here.
It was a fun night, we wish we would have had more time to do stuff. Oh well there is always next year!
The following Monday we got tickets for the Rodeo. We thought it would be fun to bring the kids. I loved going to the rodeo when I was little but apparently being inside and super duper high up makes it not as exciting. Next year we will leave the kids home!!

Kai and Savannah mostly just had fun playing on the seats!

I was nervous the whole time because this arena was straight down and we were at the very top.

We could barely see anything and I was so stressed about the kids falling the whole time.

Next time we do a real rodeo, in Utah outside!
Kean got into my purse and at some point tossed out Kai's glucometer. So annoying it had all of her numbers from the past couple of months on it, not mention that we were leaving for Utah the next day and now had to get a new one.
He did enjoy the food though! That is pretty much all this kid does is eat. Well as long as it is unhealthy and not a fruit or vege then he will eat it.
Little Stinker!!

Big girl Bed

Kai was getting too big for her toddler bed so we decided it was time to move her up to a big girl bed. Where is Kailie?????
This was her last night in her little big girl bed!! She was so cute!!
It was definitely a lot easier for these two to climb on this bed.
This is Jared's old bed that I think they got from his Grandma? Jared sanded and painted it and it is good as new!! Kai was super excited for her big girl bed. Anytime friends would come over she immediately took them up to her room to see her new bed.

New Year's Eve

We had a little New Year's Eve Party at our house. The Keck's, Widdison's and Craguns came. We had a fondue party with cheese and Chocolate fondue's. Then we played Andrea's wrapped ball of goodies game.
The kids all loved it.
Usually the adults play too, this time the kiddos were having a hard time getting the tape off.

Then we did some fireworks!1
Sparklers are the best!!

The men getting into it too.
It was a little bit crazy with all the kids.

Kai loved it!

Then we let off so bigger stuff. Shhhh, don't tell anyone, pretty sure it is illegal in our area but everyone was doing it!
Chad had a couple of big ones. They were big and loud!

These two girls were not a fan of the big fireworks and would not come out side to watch!!
Then as we were getting ready to end the night, Tate discovered the sprinkles in the pantry and was having his own little party. The Cragun's and Widdison's left early. The Keck's stayed till midnight and we just hung out talking. It was a nice New Year's and fun to spend it with friends. The kids had a blast as well.
