Road Trip

Last June we said goodbye to our 8212 Vicksburg Dr.  home in Liverpool New York and headed out on our week long road trip to San Antonio!

Our first stop was to the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. Jared had been wanting to go there forever so we finally made it. It was really cool. I learned alot about glass. My favorite part were the demonstrations on glass blowing. That was really cool.

Then we headed down to Kirtland. We have both been there before but I still wanted to stop by. We got there late and everything was closed. It felt like a ghost town!I have this same photo of me doing this same pose with a few of my friends when I was in Kirtland last so I wanted to get one with my little squirt.

We also stopped by the Kirkland temple. I love the love and dedication that went into the building of this temple. It is too bad that it is not a working temple now. The spirit is just not there!

The first night we stayed at Jared's good friends Matt and Becky's house. Funny enough they weren't there, they were in Utah hanging out with Jared's family.

The next morning we woke up and headed to our friends Chris and Rachael Haines house. On the way we stopped in Wooster, Ohio which is where Jared calls home. This is their old house. We drove around the little town and he showed us his old high school and told some funny stories.

 We got to Chris and Rach's house Friday afternoon and it was so awesome to see them again. It had been 2 years since we had last seen them. It was just like old times and we spent the majority of our time playing games and watching Chuck!

 

 Saturday we went to Kings Island a big amusement park. It was fun. We took the kids on a  few rides. Kai was definitely the bravest of the three.

Kai was so funny on the bumper cars. She had no clue what was going on so she just sat there and did circles the whole time. Chris went over to her side to try to get her to drive but she was clueless. 

So funny!

 

Sunday we just hung out, went to church, walked around this beautiful trail and played games.

Monday was the 4th of July. We went to the air and space museum at the Wright-Pat air force base and then we stopped by Sam's club and bought a huge pack of FIREWORKS, or so we thought. Turns out every single "firework" in it was just a smoke bomb. So disappointing. We actually took back the empty package later and they refunded our money even though we used all of them because it was totally mis-leading marketing.

Rach and I just hanging out. We had so much fun with these guys. It was sad to  leave but we knew we would at least see them again soon since they were coming to San Antonio for a BYU football game.

The next day we woke up early and headed down to Nauvoo. It was pretty hot and Kailie really is too young to really get anything out of touring around the town so our main focus was the temple and the Nauvoo pageant.

I really wanted to do a session so Jared watched  Kai while I did one. I went through the open house of the Nauvoo temple but now that I am endowed it was awesome to see it again. The inside truly is gorgeous. The dark wood everywhere and the staircases. It was great to do a session.

That night we went to City of Joseph Pageant. It was cool and all the fun games and stuff before were awesome. Definitely the highlight of it all for me.

Poor Kailie was packed in like a little sardine. She was such a trooper on this long drive and watched toy story (her favorite movie at the time) about a gazillion times. We had to bring alot of extra stuff like all of Jared's tools and stuff since we were going to be remodeling our new house before our household goods were delievered.

The next few days are all just a blur. The night of the Pageant Kailie woke up in the middle of the night with an ear infection and so the next two days we just drove and cruised our way down to our new home in San Antonio, Texas.

We have been in San Antonio for almost a year now and she still talks all the time about our old house. She will say out of the blue how she wants to go to her old house and play with her old friends. Our house now is still our "new house" to her. I wonder when she will stop talking about our old house?
