I'll take some fried potatoes and a fried twix please

Well in our quest to figure out what to do for fun around here we discovered that thousands of people enjoy going to the State Fair. We attempted to go the opening day but after being misguided by the signs for parking three times and an hour later we decided to call it a day and come back later.  We ended up going on the last day it was a good day, not to crowded, perfect temp.

I must say that Jared and I were both a little disappointed. We  had heard so much about how great the  fair was from all the locals but it turned out to be overpriced rides with lots of expensive deep fat fried food. There was some cool things like this awesome sand castle that is a tribute to The Beatles if you couldn't tell!

Most of the animals were gone the day we went so that was disappointing but there were a few left. Kai loved looking at all the piglets!

Any guesses on what this is? I can't remember the name but man was it one big furry Bunny!

 

We couldn't resist this picture. Jared took like a thousand of them and in everyone Kai is doing something different, of course! 

 

 We kept hearing that they have all sorts of crazy fried food like Macaroni and Cheese. Jared really wanted to try a fried snickers bar but we never found where they were selling them so we decided to try the fried twix instead. I asked them how much, fully expecting it to be like $5 dollars but instead I was surprised when they said $2.50.  Then they handed me the twix and this was it.

 It was like two small bites.  I couldn't believe that I spent $2.50 for that and the worst part was, it wasn't even good!

The best part of the fair was the 25 cent Chocolate milk. We definitely went back there a few times and even Kailie who hasn't touched milk since last March drank two cups.

Overall it was fun, I wish the rides were cheaper so we could have ridden them but oh well!

A few weeks later we went to a Harvest Festival. It was fun, again I was surprised how much everything cost but we splurged and got some fresh potato chips, they were good!

Most of the activities were for older kids so there wasn't a whole lot to do for Kai but she absolutely loved the petting zoo. There was puppies(her favorite of course), goats, bunnies and sheep.

Previous to entering the petting zoo Kai was eating the afore mentioned potato chips and therefore had salty good tasting hands. These lambs loved her fingers. All the other kids around her actually had food to give to the lambs but they kept going for Kai's hands since they tasted so good!

Remembering Steph!

One year ago today the world lost a beautiful person! 

 I can't believe it has already been a year since my cousin Steph died in a car accident. It seems as though it was just yesterday and yet sometimes it seems as though it was a long time ago! I have thought a lot about Steph and her family this past year, probably everyday and the one thing that I have really come to appreciate and focus on after the loss of Steph is how precious life is and how fast it can be taken. I have really tried to enjoy every moment this past year with Kailie and not take this time for granted! 

My thoughts are with Steph's family! Love you guys!

4th Anniversary

Today is our 4th wedding anniversary! It was such a great day. Nothing special but just really nice. Jared surprised me with some beautiful flowers that remind us both of Hawaii and a really funny card that he said  brought him to tears when he first read it because it was so funny and so fitting with our relationship! 

It was actually not raining today so we went to the park and let Kailie play for awhile, she learned how to climb up a arched ladder. It was so amazing to watch her just take one step after another and didn't hesitate until the very last step. She is adventurer's like her dad but cautious like her mom. All the leaves are changing so it was so pretty and it was pretty cold. 

Then we came home ate leftovers, played a game of Foosball in which Jared and Kailie killed me and then we had one of Jared's favorite desserts, Chocolate Caramel Layer squares Yummy!  We watched our wedding video. It was so fun to look back at it all. Kailie sat with us the whole time and every time she would see mine or Jared's dad she would say Papa! So cute that she recognized both of them! We decided to make it a tradition and watch our wedding video every anniversary with our kids. 

I  forgot that Jared wrote me a song for our wedding. It was such a great song titled " My Eve" it was nice to hear it again. All in all it has been a great day. Today is also the wedding anniversary of President Monson and his wife so we feel pretty special sharing this day with them!!

I am so glad that I met Jared and married him. It has been an adventure so far and I am looking forward to the many adventures that await us. He is a great husband and father and I am happy to be his wife. 

 Tomorrow we actually get to go on a date for the first time since we left Hawaii in June so we are definitely looking forward to some alone time!

Blueberries, Races and Everything in between

Back in August Kai and I went Blueberry picking with my friend Jenn and her kids. I have never really picked fruit before so it was fun except for all the poison Ivy everywhere. As we were picking, I remembered a book from my childhood "Blueberries for Sal". It is about a little girl and her mother who go pick blueberries.

Kailie actually picked a bunch but then of course she spilled them all over.

 The weather turned cold here during August, which was definitely a shock to us. Every once in awhile it would get warm again. This day was pretty warm so we headed to the "beach" with some other women from the ward. Really pretty and so different than what we are used to. 

Kai of course wanted to play where she wasn't supposed too.

It was weird that they had most of the lake roped off so you could only be in a certain part. I have never been to a lake that was like that!

This is her first time really using her lifejacket by herself and she loved it and I loved it!

In September we ran in a 5k race. For those who know me know that I HATE running so this was a big accomplishment since I had never ran 3 miles before.

I am totally slow but I am okay with that. 

Since I have been running slower I don't hate it as much so I guess slow is better than nothing!

The first day we moved in Kai found this snow shovel and they have been best buds ever since. She is gearing up for all the shoveling we will have to do!  Notice her boots!

 We have been gearing up for winter and buying winter clothes. Kai loves to wear all her boots  and snow stuff all day!

Got those boots on again. Probably once it is cold and she has to wear them she won't want to!
